Caterers

Does anyone know of either a fantastic caterer in Wales, or else a good resource with a list of caterers?

There seem to be so few of them where my wedding is going to be (Pembrokeshire). I'm getting quotes/menus from a couple, but only one of them is remotely what I'm after. I want someone who'll use mostly local produce, but do really creative high-end food for a sit-down meal. I've found plenty I like, but they all seem to be in or around London. Aaaaarrrrghhh!

Did anyone else have trouble finding a good caterer?

Can't the location where you're having your reception give you any ideas? Are there any restaurants that you love that might be willing to cater? Or did you try any of the farm shops to see if they are willing to do something like that? They might be able to recommend someone that they sell their produce to.

The location recommended two caterers - one I know I'm not crazy about and the other is the one I'll probably end up going with unless I find something else.

Most restaurants in the area are so small that they just don't have the capabilities of catering a big wedding.

Could you make enquiries as well around some of the nicer restaurants/tea rooms in Wales (or in London run by a Welsh chef) & see if they might have any catering recommendations for the sort of thing you want?  (i.e., local produce, creative high-end food for a sit-down meal...)

Maybe it's a completely daft idea - I mean it didn't look like any of them do catering, but could they perhaps point you in the direction of someone who does - in the style that you are wanting?

Another good idea! Thanks, C!  I actually had a meal at The Hardwick just last month and it was fab! I doubt that Stephen Terry does catering but, you're right, he might know of someone else whom he can recommend.

June 13! Less than a year to go ... which sounds like a long time but, when I look at my list of things to do, really isn't!

Or how about a lovely pub? But a pub offers warmth and informality, which is kind of nice. No idea how good these are!

I'm not really looking for pub-type ambience, to be honest. But your list has reminded me of a fab little restaurant in Porthgain (The Shed) that might either do catering or know of someone else who does! So thanks for jogging my memory! 

There is a fab restaurant in Mumbles called Patricks where we had our wedding lunch. I am not sure if they do catering but they might be worth a shot if your first choice doesn't work out.

I looked at their website and it looks amazing! But no mention of outside catering. Still, I'll give them a call and see. Thanks!
