Veterinary Certificate
« on: June 16, 2008, 11:04:43 AM »
Hi,

I'm getting my cat ready to go to England, I was looking on the Defra site, and I guess I need a ''Third country vet certificate''?? And I thought I read that I needed to get it from my vet? but then there is a link for it, and you can print out a form, so is that what I need?

thanks

Yes, that certificate is essential - download it, have your vet fill it out, then get it signed by the state USDA vet.  There are several recent threads that discuss the 998/2003 certificate as well as the APHIS 7001 - read through the posts here on this board for more information, and don't hesitate to call your state USDA vet and/or the airline you'll be travelling with to clarify if you have any further questions.

Not trying to be annoying, but I print that form out, get it filled out with the vet, and then do I get it signed by the USDA vet after the microchip, rabies shot, and what not?

thanks

Yup - that form gets filled out after the chipping/vaccination/blood test process is done.

Do a search in this forum for "pets scheme for dummies" - it's an older thread but a really helpful one in terms of in what order things need to be done and what forms need to be filled out.
