AAAAARRRRRRHHHGGGGGG!!
« on: May 12, 2004, 02:28:32 AM »
 >:(

I received my work permit.  Yippee!  So I went to the site where I could do the e-fastrack to get my entry clearance.  So far so good.  I entered all the info, thought I did well, then entered my credit card info...

then I got an error message & the stuff wouldn't process!  Ugh!  I have emailed asking what to do...I can't get to the old info, don't want to enter it again, don't want to have my credit card billed twice.  AAAAAAARRRRHHHHGGG! Darn.  And things were going so well too!  Bummer.

Hi, I could just email you, but I will write here just in case it happens to anyone else!

I did the same thing and it froze-up did nothing, so I looked at my credit card on line and it showed the charge (I did it with a onecard cc and they show purchases immediately even if they have not gone through) So I knew it worked.  Then I went back to the Visa page and clicked refresh and it went right to the order complete page.  So if you still have it up try it.  If not call them in the AM.  I hear they are very nice!

Richard and I will be going June 1, how cool would it be if you could come the same day!  I'm waiting for them to post the date, they do it two weeks before and naturally the crazy I am looks everyday to be sure they didn't skip ahead.
Here is the site to make the appointments:
https://www.britainusa.com/eappointments/ny/make_detail_mainam.asp

Let me know what happens.  It's on the 27 May now, so I figure I have a few days of checking.

This has probably been answered before, so I apologize.

Can you book an appointment in advance? Can you book one before you have made a visa application?

Here's the deal, my boyfriend and I booked tickets to NY for 2 weeks in July and it is very possible we will get married while we are there, and then apply for a spousal visa for me to come back on.

Do I book an appointment the week before we go?

If I'm not mistaken, I think someone on the forum suggested that we not say anything to immigration that we are in the states to get married.  Will that be a problem with immigration when we arrive in NY or will they have no idea that we have an appointment?

sorry if that was confusing. . .

Thanks all.  Didn't get it to work (didn't think about refreshing the page).  Anyway - I'll call this morning.  My plan is to send the paperwork - I have no need to actually go there as my visa for work if pretty straight forward.  Thanks for the support!

kowalsks, I think the only problem with going to NY and getting married there, is that you have to then wait 15 days for the marriage cert.  Richard and I got around this by getting married in Guildford in January.  In England you have to put in your intent to marry two weeks ahead and then book a time to do it. You get the certificate right then.  I think you also have to apply for a license in the US?  Not sure cause I didn't go that way.  With the appointments (Which is new by the way) you need to go to the link I sent onetiger and set that up.  They do it about two weeks in advance and have several time slots available.

onetiger, you are lucky you can send it all in!  I really wanted to do that too!!! Let me know what happens.
