Joint Home Ownership
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:05:27 PM »
My husband and I are re-mortgaging to put the house in both names.  I've been here since 2005 and am on LLR.  I renewed that as I couldn't take the test at the time - annoying new ILR test!

Anyway, has anyone had problems owning property on LLR?  The mortgage co. is saying they have to look into whether or not I can be a joint owner.  I'm sure that there are others who must own property on LLR, but maybe I'm wrong...

My name was on our mortgage with DH's name from Day 1 - no problem, only 5 months into my LLR period.  The lender is being silly!  :)

Great, thanks!  We'll switch lenders if it's a problem.

Same as Mrs R. We bought our house together in 1999, before I had ILR. We bought it six weeks after we got married and I moved over to the UK, I probably only had to show my passport. We are with the Nationwide.

We were with Scarborough Building Society to start.  We're with ING now.
