This is what I do. But my tape measure is this particular pair of jeans I own!  ;D

But your jeans don't go over your belly (which is what you are trying to reduce).

Your jeans go over your hips and legs and your top goes over your belly - at least that is how I wear clothes.

I had a similar conversation with my sister, who said she had trouble wearing jeans over her belly. I am confused. Do I have an abnormally high belly or something? Or do you wear exceptionally high waisted jeans?

ETA: I checked this morning and my dressy trousers don't come up to my belly button either. I would consider your belly/tummy to be the area just above and below your belly button, right?

Well I've got a pot belly & it most definitely sits (hangs? :-[) below my belly button, and I'd be in serious trouble if my jeans didn't cover it! :o

All of my jeans/trousers - the waistband is at or above my belly button - thank goodness!  I can't stand low riding or low waisted trousers. :P

I tend to call the part under my belly button - my belly, and the part above my belly button - my stomach, or abdomen.

My jeans/trousers/skirts do not go above my belly button. However, I still consider below my belly button, my belly. If my jeans are fitting nicely, that means I'm losing inches around my hips, butt, and belly.

Well, just to share with the OP, I did lose my tummy after my pregnancy (through manic exercise and breastfeeding) and you get kind of this hanging flesh that is left after your pregnancy tummy is gone. It's just stretchmarked, wrinkly skin (sorry if its TMI!!!). The only thing that REALLY gets rid of a post pregnancy tummy is a tummy tuck. Some women are lucky and they show no battle scars from pregnancy but for those of us that pregnancy weren't so kind on, it's pretty much our only option.

However, I'm still young and will probably push a couple more puppies out before my 35th b-day so plastic surgeons suggest you get all your kiddies out of the way before having one.

ACK! My mom actually said these very same words to me today! I could never, ever have elective surgery - That, I'm sure of.

Well, just to share with the OP, I did lose my tummy after my pregnancy (through manic exercise and breastfeeding)

What exercises did you do, specifically? I'm exercising like a madwoman these days, without seeing much result in the tummy department. Any advice on things that worked for you would be much appreciated!  :)

To be honest, right after I had my daughter, I just did your run of the mill walking. I had received one of those heavy duty prams for a baby shower gift and I'd strap the little one in and walk. There was this massive hill by my house and I'd walk it several times a day. Then I started doing the treadmill after that. A lot of people run on the treadmill (I am not one of those people). I prefer to speed walk while climbing a hill on the treadmill. If you are familiar with treadmills, pick the grade of hill you want to walk or most have a button with a picture of a hill and you can do that version. I also did a lot of sit ups. I have slacked off lately but some of the best, especially for the lower tummy, is if you are clutching someone's ankles (or a very heavy object that will not move) lying down on your back. Your legs are out straight on the floor and you bring them all the way up, keeping them together. Do at least 5 repetitions of 10 to start with and increase as needed. Those really bring your tummy in. I will try to find a diagram online and post it as I am rubbish at explaining exercises.

Let me know if you see any results. :)

ETA: I'm scared to death of plastic surgery myself but a friend of mine at work had it done and it looked great! Her healing time was minimal (maybe a week or so). She also had it done in the Phillipines though as she is Filipino and knew a top-rate plastic surgeon. She got it done at a fraction of the price she would have paid in the states and she turned her surgery into a holiday. All in all, I think she stayed 2 weeks there.
