A quick question about application dates
« on: July 17, 2015, 04:33:04 PM »
I know that you can not apply for a settlement visa sooner than 90 days/3 months  before your intended travel date.  We applied online May 5 and mailed our documentation on May 22 and the application was not received until June 1st. We put a date of September 3 for our travel date. Would they just make it for an earlier date?

Hard to know....

Before the new BRP roll out, they would usually ignore the intended travel date and issue the visa from the date they approved the application.

But they seem to be paying attention to travel dates now (obviously a good thing).

As your application has been sitting there for so long, I cannot imagine you will have an issue.  I would anticipate they will make the visa date valid from the date you requested.

Had they looked at the application asap, they could have refused the application (though I think highly unlikely.  I think they would have just issued it as valid from that day and left you to "deal with it.").

All of that is my speculation, of course.  No fact behind any of it!   ;D

You've seen enough of this to have valid speculation that I will take as near fact  ;D  Thanks for the answer. I keep coming up with new things for them to refuse me for. I think it's delirium from my dramatics.  ha soon enough it will be over.

Hi Pandapops,   We mailed and got email confirmation of receipt on the same date as you and we just received my wife's passport with a 2 yr 9 month visa in it which suggests to me that the cut over to a 30 day permit and biometric card is based on date of receipt of application, and not date of issue of visa.

So that said I think you'll probably get a 33 month visa in your passport so it's anyone's guess whether that will be dated Sept 3rd or the date on which they issue the visa: the good news is that I think you'll likely not have a 30 day window to travel.

All the best with the continued waiting in this deeply unfair process.  York is beautiful - you'll love it there.
