Oh no!  Sorry, I have not used it.  I have used BBC and 4's which you do download first. (4 has streaming as well) Maybe let it buffer all the way through first. (Sometimes it takes a long time for the video to "download")  It might also be the weather.

Yep, I've used BBC and Channel 4 before as well, and they both work great - especially BBC which is sooo quick to download! I use the BBC one every day because I can't live without my Masterchef fix!

I've left this ITV one to buffer for a good hour, but the little line doesn't seem to have moved and it's still really odd. It's not like watching unbuffered stuff on YouTube - there's no hesitation and no stops and starts. It's just as if it was filmed in all still shots. Very strange.

I just found a download option! It's not obvious at first, but it's there!  ;D

Where?!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

First of all, can I just say: ITV IS RUBBISH!!

You'd think they'd learn a thing or two from BBC and Channel 4, wouldn't you?

Anyway, from what I've found, you have to actually start playing the programme you want to download. If you hover your mouse over the top right corner of the viewing box, you'll see a 'Download' popup. But don't click download until after the advert finishes, or you'll just wind up downloading 30 seconds of advert.

Here's my problem, though. I've clicked download, and it's telling me it's downloading. Fine. But it's only downloading 15 minutes. I'm up to 6 of 15 minutes. Where's the rest of the programme??

******

OK. Great. Now it says 'Unable to download.'

You know what, ITV? I give up.

Lemme give it a whirl and see what happens...

The download option is not available via ITV.  If you're getting the download video button when you mouse over the video I'll bet you have realplayer installed.  One of the options when you install it is a "browser video download plug-in" which enables you to record streaming videos - it's actually quite useful and works for all sorts, youtube etc, and will also capture streaming radio.  Obviously if a site only offers content as a stream then they don't want you to be able to record the stuff and they block the plugin every now and then - sometimes if you get the latest version of realplayer it will work better for a while.

P.S. there are other bit of software that do the same thing but I guessed realplayer is the one you're most likely to have installed without meaning to.

Well, the buffering was so bad, there's no way I'd be able to watch it at all. So it's a lost cause all around. Bummer, as I really wanted to watch this.

Have you tried downloading the absolute latest version of realplayer - you might get better results?

Aha! That explains a lot! Thanks!  :)
