I've always preferred wine myself.

Although yesterday when I was in the vintners, building up my supply for after this one is delivered and picking up some ale for DH, I noticed this stuff called Pinky vodka.

I'm not a spirit-drinker for the most part, but that was a very pretty bottle it came in.

I love red wines myself.
Not better, nor worse.  Just....different.

The English version of sangria! ;D  (I always tart mine up with lots of ice, fruit, cucumber, etc...it's like an alcoholic-gin fruit salad!)

Best made with cucumber, lemon and Orange slices, fresh strawberries (must be firm) and lots of mint.  And, if you fancy it, an extra shot of Gin!

Or, try the Pimms Royale....champagne instead of lemondade!  That is good.

Small tip - I find 7-up brings out the flavour more than lemonade.

Oh, now I REALLY want one!  Shame I'm going to a beer festival tonight instead!

I love that description!  I've never tasted it as I am allergic to cucumbers and they have always been in it when it's being served.

I've always thought of it as the English version of Sangria as well.  I mix it with Sprite or 7-UP, strawberries, orange slices, chunks of apple and lots of mint...oh, and ice of course!  The directions on the bottle say to use chilled lemonade and chilled Pimm's to start with.

We've happened to get away with one nice day for a bbq - back on Father's Day (I know there have been other nice days, we just haven't been around to relax in our own garden), and it was a nice, refreshing drink to have while my husband was sweating over the bbq!

Then you must make it yourself sometime, and just omit the cucumbers! :)

I tend to chuck in whatever kind of fruit we have on hand...strawberries, lemons, limes...I've thrown in peach slices or nectarines (delicious!), slices of plum, grapes, pineapple - it's all good! ;D  Also, fresh mint from our garden. :)

One time all I had were these frozen mixed berries (like raspberries, blackberries, blueberries & strawberries - I think it was from Sainsburys) - so I put them in, between the initially frozen fruit (helped to serve as 'ice cubes' too) and the fizziness of the lemonade, everyone said it looked really pretty in the glass.
