We went to see MADNESS last night!!
« on: August 08, 2008, 11:14:03 AM »
Just an incredible day!!!

it was at Sandown Racecourse in Surrey. It came with complimentary admission to the races. Oddly...we bet...we lost...the ones we didn't bet on...our picks won...
I bet on a horse called American Art.....He was in the front initially..then came in dead last...Bet on an Irish horse with an Irish jockey she says..... BLAH...bet on the odds of losing is what I say....

Anyways.....MADNESS.....I have wanted to see this band live since I was about 12. Yesterday was a dream come true for me.....Is was great....all kinds of old guys showing up dressed up...bracers, doc martins....fez hats....Skankin.....The show had tons of good energy...They played all the hits..and a couple new songs....
We had a wonderful time....and I plan on trying to get tickets for the Dec 19th show at the O 2 arena in London.
My recommendation...if you were into the ska/mod movement....or you just love a great live band....shell out some dosh...dress up....and enjoy the night!

Have a good one!

Good stuff!

Not my cup of tea, but my brother goes to see them at every opportunity (he's a Suggs clone) and yes, he dresses up too...sad really!

I will have to stick up for him....he obviously has been a fan since they formed...So at least he is dedicated to something that let's him let loose from his day job of taking out the trash!

I saw them at Finsbury Park about three times back in the '90's...absolutely brilliant!  I wouldn't see them indoors though...I like the O2, but it doesn't seem right for Madness to me.  They will always be a festival band.

Never the less.....They are a wonderful show...it was a concert I didn't mind spending money on....
I have seen bands where after the show you just feel completely ripped off.....

Good for you. Sounds like you had a great time :).
We are a nation that has a government -- not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the earth. Our government has no power except that granted to it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.
