DH and I stopped in Axminster this morning to do some house-hunting,( I've got a new job in Dorset and the "commute" from South Devon is getting to be a bit much), anyway we popped in to the River Cottage HQ, had a nice wander around the shop, bought some beautiful bread, etc, etc. We then headed down the street and just a few doors down was the cutest little cafe called Route 66.."A true american taste", of course we had to check it out. The menu looked really good, things like meatloaf and mashed potatoes; pancakes; hamburgers with american cheese...looked like proper diner food. We didn't eat, we had just eaten breakfast, but I did chat with the young woman who owns the place. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name, but she's lived in the area for about 9 years and moved to the southwest from Houston. So, if anyone is out and about it might be worth stopping in for a bite of old fashion american grub....her iced tea was great!!!
