You had me at The bleu cheese on the iceberg wedge was great.  I'm sold!

i grew up seeing ads for carson's on tv (http://www.ribs.com/), but i gotta stick with pizza as our signature dish.

See that is what I always thought.

Pizza nice and thick and cut with scissors instead of a pizza cutter....mmmmm!

That sounds cool!  I've never seen it done.

For people who've been to both, how does this place compare to BoDeans?
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I liked this better than BoDeans.  Quite frankly, I wasn't impressed with BoDeans.  The smell had my knees buckling, but to me, the BBQ sauce didn't taste like it smelled.

Stacey - the bleu cheese reminded me of the Marie's salad dressing I used to buy in the US.  http://www.maries.com/

Well, peedal's review made me really eager to try it so we're going tonight! Actually leaving in about 3 minutes. :)

Will report back.

Oh -I hope you like it!

We went again on Friday, 2 May, and it was better.  My boss had gone on Wednesday and the potato skins were still not warm, but when we went on Friday they came to the table perfectly hot!

This time we had the baby back ribs.  Again, the sauce was great, but to be honest, the pork could have been a bit more tender.  But there was a lot of meat on the ribs, so that was good!

Also had some Goose Island IPA which was exceptionally good bottled ale.

For afters, my husband had Mississippi Mud Pie and I had the Key Lime Pie.  Both were really really good!  (And, oddly enough, the ale went really well with the Key Lime Pie!)

Again - hope you like it, Mort!

I did like it!

The ambiance was great. Music wasn't loud enough to hinder conversation and I'm a sucker for the eighties, so all good. I still get the feeling that they haven't quite ironed out their process when it comes to service. Not to say that it was in any way deficient ( it most certainly wasn't) but it was a bit awkward, if that makes sense. For example, the two hostesses couldn't decide between themselves which one was gonna seat us, so one led us to the table, and the other followed with two menus. It was kinda cute but not bad -- I think they are still getting used to moving smoothly through the whole thing.

We didn't get appetizers, though the wings looked mighty tempting, instead opting for sides. I got the pulled pork with the mac 'n cheese (which came with everything peedal mentioned) and hubby ordered the brisket with mash. I'll save you the suspense and tell you that we both thought the pork was better although the brisket was pretty good too. The sauce was delicious.

When I read peedal's issue with food temp, I thought it was a one-off thing but even though the food came out pretty quickly, my pork was only luke-warm as was hubby's garlic mash. I am not sure why that is, but I really would have liked the meat to have been hotter -- I think that would have brought out the flavors of the sauce much more. Hopefully, that is something they will eventually iron out.

Despite the temp issue, the food was by and large delicious. The mash had a great texture and aftertaste and the mac 'n cheese was creamy and just the way I like it. The meat, as I said earlier, was yummy with the pork edging out the beef on taste but only just. The corn was really really good -- better than I've had in a long while -- but I was not in awe of the coleslaw. They overdid it on the dressing. I don't know if they offer vinegar-based one instead, but if they do then that's what I'm asking for next time. The other bits were cooked well, but since neither hubby or I really like seasoned potato wedge-type things, we didn't make much of a dent in them.

No desert since by the end we were so stuffed, they could have rolled us out of there. The portion sizes are not ridiculously large, but I think we were pushing it with the two sides. It makes more sense to share one.

The room we were in (there are two dining rooms, I think) was decently filled, mostly with large (5+ people) parties and lots of North Americans. Pretty impressive for a Monday night.

The only serious problem that we had was with the bar. I had my trusty diet coke, so it wasn't an issue for me, but hubby ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and a Seabreeze and neither was particularly good. The Iced Tea tasted oddly flat, like the coke they used had lost all carbonation and the seabreeze was just...off. Maybe next time, hubby won't tax the barman (or woman) and just stick to ale as per peedal's advice.

In summary, I'll be back!

That's too bad about the cocktails, as those two are my favourites as well.  I will stick with the ale, I think!

And I agree - the corn on the cob was really quite nice.  I know it seems like  a simple thing, but it was really tasty.

I am hoping they take on board any and all criticism.  They don't open to "the public" until Thursday, so these past few weeks have been practice runs.  Does seem the temperature thing is a bit hit and miss.  I'd be interested to know exactly how far the kitchen is from the dining area.

And the music is cool, isn't it?  Not too loud, and a great "loop".

I'm hoping I had a freak experience.  Went with DH and BIL for dinner before the Proms and was bitterly disappointed.  The food was tasty, but the coleslaw came in a tiny paper cup you usually associate with condiments such as pump ketchup.  The baby back ribs had scarcely any meat on them.  The sides, in fact everything, was quite pricey.  All three of us went away still hungry.  I had to get myself a sandwich at the Royal Albert Hall to tide myself over.  Now I know this is a pregnant woman and two hungry men, but I didn't find it good value for money.  The service was very good and I did like the ambience.  On the upside, it's inspired me to do BBQ chicken at home this week.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
