Biometrics! I'm so excited!
« on: September 18, 2008, 06:46:30 AM »
I'm going for my biometrics test today (Thursday).  A 2 1/2 hour drive for what sounds like a very quick and simple thing.  And I am so excited!!   ;D   Things are happening and maybe, just maybe, it won't be long until I'm on my way to see my sweetheart.

I wish the whole process was as easy/timely as biometrics, hehe. Although I don't envy the people who work at the consulate offices. I'd imagine they have a bit of pressure with the influx of all these apps.

Good Luck to you, June Cleaver!!  ;D

I arrived for my biometrics test 15 minutes early, the nice guard at the door asked to see my papers and passport before letting me in then handed them to the second guard.  I was asked to put my bag on the belt so it could be "x-rayed" then told to have a seat and wait for my name to be called which took about 1 minute.  There was only one other person in the waiting area.  The lady doing the fingerprints was very nice, had a little trouble getting a good reading of mine so used a wet towel on them and that helped.  She said young people usually have the best and masons/concrete workers have the worst.  It was all over in a few minutes.  I was asked to fill out a comment card and couldn't check anything other than excellent.  I was back to my car before my scheduled appointment time of 1:00.
As you said LoveMyBrit, it's too bad the whole process can't be that easy.   :)

Yay! One step closer!

We had to drive 5 hours there, with 3 kids!

Took us all about 20 minutes, they were so nice and great with the kids.

And than drive 5 hours home, in terrible weather as it was the day of Hurricane Ike!

We were never so happy to get home!

But I think they do need to get a Biometrics place in Arkansas, as the drive was a huge pain.

My biometrics appointment went about the same as yours, June Cleaver.  I got there about 40 mins early but went in figuring I'd just wait, no problem.  The guard, who was very nice (even with a woman before me who didn't seem to have an appointment but was just in asking loads of questions) asked why I was there and directed me where to go and put my appointment sheet.  I waited about 1 min, was called up, had all my prints taken and then my picture, did the comment card, and was back out way before my appointment was actually supposed to start.  They didn't seem to pay any attention to scheduled appointments, just took people as they came, which worked for me.  But the place was far from crowded anyway.

See? Cake.

I was in and out of mine in about 5 or so minutes...AND that's counting the time it took to pop to the Ladies' Room on the way out. (Since I was sweating bullets in 2 hrs of traffic trying to get to Charlotte, hehe)

Glad it went smoothly for ya.  ;)
