I don't understand your point.

Yes, you need assets to get a financial loan.

No, having a loan even with assets is not enough to get this visa.

What, like those whiz kids at Lehman Brothers?

The problem with Lehman Brothers  has very little to do with whiz kids sort of thing,   "i was a money trader etc..  whiz kids as you mentioned were sells people who really often don't know anything about fin markets they tend to sell to private investors with a couple of million in assets.  I dealt with  corporate and countries etc.."  As far as the Lehman brothers are concerned  and other financial  organization, problem started at the bottom up everyone and there mom wanted to buy a house, so basic supply and demand house prices rose to amounts that were unrealistic.  If you look at a house as a stock the P/E ratio didn't make sense much like when yahoo stock rich over a 1000 dollars.  House prices rose and people who had no  business even trying to buy a house, wanted to have one because everyone and their mom was buying. So when those people started defaulting the market burst.  I suspect  the U.K will have a correction as well especially in London, where house prices are unrealistic and those organization who  backed those  home deals will take a loss.  If you look back at the 80's this sort of correction happened in Tokyo and NY, but back then it wasn't as problematic.  I would also recommend if anyone has money its a good time to go buy into the market and pick up solid companies for bargain prices.  Buy when there's blood in the streets, when the prices go up in a couple of years make a killing

Vicky, I believe this is what has been explained to me by both a u.s. lawyer and a U.K. lawyer   that having assets  to secure that sort of loan and having the money in a u.k. account is  sufficent for you to be put on a tier one status, even if large portion is 90%.  The rationale as it was explained to me is that  people who have that sort of money, isn't going to be working as a house maid.  One of the major reasons countries limit the number of immigrants is $$$ issue they really don't want uneducated poor people destroying their social system.  If you have a million dollars in a U.K.  even if you don't touch that money for a year its a win win system for the U.K.  the banks will use that money to loan out to people and business etc...  Furthermore, if you have a million dollars in a u.k. bank you have money and wealth where you can contribute to u.k economy.  You will tend to rent or buy a better housing spend more on goods etc...  On a loan of 1,000,0000 you will likely be paying a minium of 10,000 a month plus.  If you can afford that sort of monthly and have other assets elsewhere everyone wants you to come to their country because you have the resources.  People, who can drop 10,000 a month will likely spend anotehr 10k or 15k a month for their living expenses.  When you drop 10k to 15k in a month doors open up for you.  Its a question of haves and haves not, much like its easier to immigrate from certain countries than other its all about $$$

Okay, good luck then.  This UK immigration specialist thinks you can't do this, but best of luck.

Also, if you have already been told that you can do this, I am unsure why you have posted here!

Do we really want people who think like that coming to the UK?

Reason I ask is because  I for one do not really trust immigration lawyers often times they will say milk you for money and it can be quite complicated.  So I was hoping someone on here has gone through this type of immigration and could give me more insight into the details.  Lawyers are often like used car sales people they will say anything to make a sell.

Its a fact of life,  "life isn't fair"  I've been doing business in the u.K. and other European countries universally have less than stellar  feelings towards immigrants who are on th elower economic ladder.   UK is not exception

Well, you now have two different opinions from two different immigration lawyers...me and the other guy.  But, as you think we are untrustworthy, I think I'll duck out of this now, as I am obviously just trying to make a quick buck out of you.

Notwithstanding HSBC's questionable interpretation, we need people to be immigrating under this sort of visa because of a very simple fact:  our economy cannot grow unless we attract wealthy investors full stop.

I spoke with VSD (formerly UKvisas) about this and why they were not making more publicity about it.  They felt that making a bigger splash about it would offend impoverished immigrants, which I think is crap.  Absolute crap.  All immigrants benefit from favourable publicity.  They are reviewing it internally.

macguyver4u, if you are up-to-date on the subject, I would love to run a plain-english, but detailed expository article about it on Transpondia.  Care to put on your writing shoes and give it a lash?
