hrmm. . . visas visas everywhere
« on: July 14, 2004, 09:53:25 AM »
hi all! i'm just waiting for the postal carrier to pick up my passport for its name change so that i can restart the fabulous visa process. i think i've made myself a bit confused about the next step. . . . if anyone could clarify, that would be amazing!! i did get the fiance visa (still good til november) and then got married last month. am i correct to assume that i need the 2 year visa and then the ilr? i thought that was all, but now the websites are saying something about a multiple application form. does anyone know what that entails? sorry, i'm usually not so confused.  :-[
if it isn't one thing, its my mother . . .

Yep - you'll apply for FLR(M), which is good for 2 years.  Then you'll apply for ILR.  Three years from the date you entered the UK on your Fiancee Visa you can apply for British Citizenship and then a British Passport!

This is the form you fill out:

http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/application_form.Maincontent.0006.file.tmp/compressedFLR(M)Aug03.pdf

And pay attention to the instructions, because since you came in on a Fiancee Visa, you don't have to fill in the financial information again.  It's pretty straightforward.  Now the Home Office is working on an appointment schedule, and doing it in person does cost more than posting it.  However, in my opinion, in person means you leave with your passport in hand and it all done and dusted in one day - no waiting for the postie to toss your passport throught the slot!

...a multiple application form. does anyone know what that entails?

Those multiple application forms wouldn't be appropriate for you.  They are more oriented towards, for example, a tour agent in Russia; or a promoter who is bringing in an entertainment troop.

And yes, you'll need the 2 year spousal probationary visa...
