"He Said, She Said"...FLR(M) misinformation??
« on: October 07, 2008, 03:19:21 PM »
I just called to book my appointment for FLR(M) and the gentleman I spoke to said in one breath "you can book up to 6 weeks in advance" but then in the next he said "you cannot book your appointment until AFTER you're married."

Huh? I'm confused. I thought you could book your appointment in advance? We're getting married November 1st (just 25 days) and I was trying to set up an appointment for the following Monday for my FLR(M) in person so I could start working immediately thereafter. Now I'm worried November may get busy (with the upcoming changes re: ID cards, etc.) and I won't be able to get an appointment for another month!!

Has anyone else booked their in-person appointment before being married (meaning just called to book...not attend)?

You are not the first to encounter this. Just phone again and hopefully you will get someone who has more than half a brain. Don't refer to any previous call(s).

Suspect that it will take no more than 4 calls in all before you get the appointment you seek.

I actually thought of doing this and rather than calling to say "I need information on..." I would say, "I need to book an appointment, please."

I'm wondering if he may have been confused and thought I wanted the appointment before we were married (which isn't the case).

Not to undermine John's advice, you can also just ask to speak with someone else.  That saves you the trouble of having to hang up and redial...
