Change entry date on family permit
« on: October 07, 2008, 09:54:15 PM »
Hi,

I have recently been approved for EEA family permit,  the entry date is for this December.
Recently due to unforeseen events we are having to delay our arrival by 6 months.

My question is:  Are we able to get the entry date in the current permit changed,  or would we need to go through the entire application process again?

Thanks in advance
Chris

Do you intend to arrive before the expiry date stated on the EEA Family Permit? If so, how long before that expiry date?

We would be arriving 1 - 2 weeks before the expiry of the Permit.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you know if it is possible to have the permit changed to a different date of entry, or would this require a new application?

It would require a new application ..... and it is unnecessary.

Get to the UK and before the expiry of the EEA Family Permit, use form EEA2 to apply for a Residence Card.

Your spouse, the EEA citizen, in what way will they be exercising their Treaty Rights? Employed? Self-employed? Or how? And how some after getting to the UK will they start doing that?

I guess this is the issue in our situation,  we cannot guarantee to have employment in the 2 week window left on the EEA Family Permit.

I wouldn't want to submit an EEA2 while the EEA citizen is unemployed.

Do you know if people submit EEA2 after their EEA FP has expired?

Yes, they do.

But if you are not arriving for six months, I would say to make a fresh application in 3 or 4 months.  It is free after all.
