I think that's it.... I don't have my husbands birth certificate. Hope that won't be a problem.

I'm hoping my case is alot more stronger than it was back in march. If you guys remember my tantrum.  :-[  ;D But we did in the end follow everyone's advice and got married in the states. It was a way better idea.

I also would like to know how long does the online application take?

Thanks guys.

I did the online application in about 2 hours, but I was doing it on a dial-up service (long story)...But on a DSL or broadband connection I could have done it in about an hour.

Good Luck!

Do you have copies of your husbands payslips? I would include those, if you have them.

It'll be fine not including your husbands birth certificate since you are sending his passport.

It took me about 30 minutes total to complete the application online, then another 15 or so to read it over and make sure everything was A-okay.

Oh thanks guys. How do you know when you are nearly done? See, I have no printer at home so will have to save it and print off and pay the application in the library.
I will make copies of his payslips! thanks!

Are CVs a requirement?  Not that I'm questioning you including them, I'm just curious as to why...

For a fiance or spousal visa, CVs arent' a requirement.  I did include my American style resume and a letter of reccommendation from my old boss.  I remember at the time (a year ago) reading on here somewhere that it's a good thing to include just to show you are employable.

As an aside, the NYC consulate ended up *keeping* the letter from my boss (along with some original bank statements) which was annoying because I then had to get my boss to do another one as well as ask my bank to send me those statements again (I needed them for my FLR application).

Yes, as Andee points out, for Family visas, CVs are not required (but obviously that is different for Work Visas!)

For Family, it can help in situations where there might be concern about the applicaint supporting themselves without access to public funds.  Especially if the spouse that is the applicant is going to be the main "bread winner" in a family.  That is why it is often recommended on this forum as it seldom does any harm and can save you from getting referred for further consideration and causing lots of undo stress.
WARNING My thoughts and comments are entirely my own.  Especially when it comes to immigration and tax advice, I am not a professional.  My advice is to seek out professional advice.  Your mileage may vary!

I was just curious if I ever get to that stage...Tim's worked for the same company since he graduated, so attaching a CV for him would be sort of silly, but if sending along mine would be a help, then I probably would.

You don't need Tim's if he is a British citizen.

I think I have only ever once sent a CV for a spousal visa.  I have certainly never sent a CV for a work permit / HSMP visa, and if the sponsor is in employment and earning enough to support himself and the applicant, or if there are decent savings, sending a CV is pointless.

I included a CV (and not an American style resume) because it was one of the suggested documents on the Border Agency website to show your "employability, " along with reference letters, transcripts, and stuff from current or most recent jobs.  Mind you, the husband and I basically included every single document we found suggested on the BA and the UK in the USA websites where we had said documents.  Might not have been necessary but we weren't taking any chances.

My husband and I had more than adequate savings and his income was above threshold, but when I was telephoned by the consulate they had asked me if I had a CV and if asked for, could I provide it. I answered yes. However, the consul officer did not require me to send it in.

I took that to mean that I should have sent it, though it was not listed on the information that was required when I completed my online application. Though this was all the way back in March so it's probably irrelevant to the current applications as most of my visa experience seems to be.
