Sleep baby sleep. :)
« on: May 13, 2004, 11:41:53 AM »
We;ve discovered a trick with Philip, and it seems to be working because he slept last night (and like a brick) from 9:30pm to 2am, then after eating he slept (like a brick) from 2:30am to 6am. :) That's 8 out of 9 hours! And I slept better than I have in... what feels like 104 years! We've discovered that Philip is a "sucky" baby, and so we've employed a dummy and da-yum it works in the middle of the night. He doesn't want it during the day but he woke up at 4 am acting hungry (ie sucky), we popped the dummy in, he sucked like mad for a few minutes, spit the thing out, then slept for another 2 hours! Whee! He's a total "textbook" baby so far, and he's sleeping a lot more during the night and less during the day. Lets keep fingers crossed for an 8 week baby who sleeps through the night. :) I'm not holding my breath, but my wouldn't it be nice? ANd oh... here's how cute he is now. He'll be 6 weeks old this Saturday!

Niall was like that too ... just wanted that sucking action for comfort.  Believe me, I was quite happy the day he found his thumb.  No more 'pop the binky in and spit it back out' games.  He doesn't suck his thumb during the day, unless he's getting very tired.  Other than than, no more binkies and he only uses the thumb to fall asleep.

Philip always seems thrilled when he accidentally finds his thumb. :) His daddy sucked his thumb to get himself to sleep when he was a baby, I'm quite looking forward to that day if it happens. :D

That is great Sara, Ill keep my fingers crossed for you as well.

Juliona is a night dummy baby too, the only time she uses it. Especially now that we have taken the bottles away. But I would rather her suck a dummy at night for a little while then the bottle anyday, cuz we keep 3 in her bed where she can get to them on her own now, no more waking!!!!!!!!!

Ah, Sara, you lucky duck!  :) I hope it keeps up! I'm still up breastfeeding every 3 hours during the night and Jed refuses a dummy, as did the other two of my babies. They were both thumb suckers. He has recently found his thumb so I'm hoping he'll learn to soothe himself with it soon.

BTW, Philip is adorable!!!!  :D

Slept from 10:30 pm to 4:30 am SOLID! No waking up for his dummy or anything!
And when we took him into London on Tuesday, he couldn't have cared any less.
Actually, he enjoyed being on the train & the tube - he loves looking at people. :)
Here he is enjoying a lay in the park outside the Embassy...

YAY Philip!!! It's the best when they can comfort themselves and get back to sleep! As for people watching on the tube, we don't blame him, do we? Everyone else is far less cute than he is! He's watching the circus of life! hehe
