Random items in grocery delivery?
« on: October 23, 2008, 10:29:15 PM »
This evening the Sainsbury's truck came and, mixed in with what we'd ordered, there were 2 tins of button mushrooms. We hadn't asked for those... nor, I have to say, would we ever have done so. They can go straight back with the recycling bags next time. ;)

At least they didn't charge us!

This made me wonder: what is the most random thing that other people have ever received in their grocery delivery orders?

I've had loads of accidental freebies over the years...

Best thing ever was a litre of Smirnoff blue label vodka!

Well, it's not from a grocery store, but a few years ago my ex bought a few CDs and when he got home there was one in there he hadn't paid for and hadn't even been looking at.  It turned out to be one of my favorite CDs for a while--Scottish fiddle and guitar.

You could use tinned button mushrooms as pizza topping, or throw them in a casserole?!  I'm all for free food!  (No, Elynor, you need not give the tinned mushrooms to me either...  :P)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

I once ordered 3 x 4 bottle packs of beer, they were out of stock of the packs so substituted with 3 bottles!

Random item I received - a block of butter

Random item: new potatoes in mint butter that were dated the day of delivery.

Too many weird substitutions to remember.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.
