OK - I need to vent and also to brainstorm for some ideas - else I will face the entire weekend without TV!!! (well... with BBC!)

So I noticed yesterday PM that some of the channels (E4, five, channel four, sky one.. etc) did not have signal. It was VERY windy at the time and I assume the signal may be iffy because of the wind.

Today...24 hours later I came back from work to find out that again those channels were MIA! trying to "fix" the issue I selected the "automatic scan for channels" option in my freeview box, the result? all channels GONE! only BBC channels available (I lost even all the selling stuff channels!!!).

So.. doing some internet research I found out that "maybe" there was a problem with my aereal. Well.. I called my property managmement office and since it was already after 5 pm (recall.. I just came back from work!) and since "faulty aereal" is not consider an emergency they will not send anyone to look at it until MONDAY!!!

so... what if it is not the aereal? Is there something I can do about it??? Did we suddenly went digital and lost all my TV because a non-digital freeview box/TV?? Does anyone have any more troubleshooting ideas???

You're not the only one with freeview issues. I usually do a channel scan when all of our descriptions come up with 'no information', so I did as I always do. Did an auto scan. And when it finished, I still had all the channels, but for some reason they're totally scrambled! I mean really messed up. BBC channels are up in the 800's as well as all the 4's, ITV's. Dave, Virgin and the 3 channel 5's are in the right place but all else is just totally spread across the channel range.

Oh well at least they're still there. So I feel your freeview pain, but at least I just have to re learn where they all are.

Not sure what the cause is, but you can find your digital switchover date at http://help.digitaluk.co.uk/al/197/146/article.aspx?aid=6382&bt=4
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

well. I came back from work today and voila! TV signal was back!!!

I must mention that I did called my flat's management office on Friday to report a possible broken aerial antenna- only to be told that they have not received any other requests from my building!! and since  it was not an emergency it would have to wait until Monday.

I guess today (Tuesday) they finally came over and looked at it and fix it. Otherwise I'll keep my eyes wide open in case Harry Potter is in the neighborhood fixing TV's!

In summary: it took six days (from Thursday to Tuesday) to get it fix, but I still have no idea how it was fixed.... only everything seems to indicate it was indeed the Aerial and that the rest of my neighbours have sky and were not bothered by this!

thanks everyone for your help!
