I've never dealt with squash, personally, but from what the British boyfriend tells me, it should work for your purposes (that is, drinking, rather than using in a recipe). I've no idea about how it compares in price, though, so you'll just have to check that at the store. I just buy the shelf-stable packs, like racheeeee, but that's less to do with cost (the price for fresh seems about the same to me, typically) and more to do with not needing fridge space!
