Maintenance Requirement and Dependents -- Need Help Urgent!!!

Dear All,

1) I have two dependents but i am applying only for myself (right-now) now what would be the maintenance requirement for me, when applying alone.
Remarks: It should be 2800 but at some places it is written that I need extra 1600 if i have dependents accompanying me within 12 months.

2) What should be the date of travel for dependents if they are not coming with me. Do this date has any link with the maintenance fund requirement when i am applying alone and my dependents will apply some time later (not exactly known at this time).

3) What is the date of maintenance fund document, in the visa4uk website news section it is allowed to be of within 1 month whereas that news is not on the ukba website and official documents. visa4uk also states that ukba overrides the guidance of visa4uk.


I would really appreciate if someone guide me in this regard.

I second this in that there is too many subtleties to your situation for any of us to attempt to give you advice.  We would have to list a million questions, you would have to answer them, but might leave out an important detail.  None of the answers to the three questions you posed are straight forward answers and I think it is a little too risky for you and your family to leave it up to random people in an Internet forum to affect the fate of your application.

Your best bet is to seek professional advice, Vicky is an OISC registered immigration adviser who specialises in Tier-1 General applications, or if you are more then free to find another OISC registered adviser on their website.

I think it is a pretty simple and straight forward matter, the question is that what would be the maintenance requirement if no dependents are applying (PBS Tier-1 General).

In other words is it going to be 2800 GBP or 2800+1600 GBP ?

The guidance states that it is £2800 with no dependants, with the additional amounts for dependants. If your dependants are not joining you straight away, you need only show the £2800 in the initial application. After you have been here for 12 months, the maintenance for the dependants is significantly reduced. This information is all on the UKBA website.

One last thing, if the dependents are going to join after 6 months instead of one year then does it matter?

It would appear that yes it would make a difference, hence the 12 month statement. If they join you within 12 months, £1600; if not, £533.
