Edinburgh airport
« on: February 03, 2009, 08:44:11 PM »
My friend is flying into Edinburgh instead of London because the flights were cheaper for some reason. It is closer to us anyway, so that isn't an issue. But her flight comes in at 7:30 am, so we are planning to spend the night in the Globetrotter (I believe it's just outside the city centre), but then what is the best way to get to her at the airport - train, coach, taxi? I don't know where the airport is. Thanks for any helpful tips!

I have flown a few times into that airport.  Trains don't extend all the way there.  The bus from Prince street is £6 (though I think that is round trip, might only be 3). Try airlinks website to get an idea of where the stops are http://www.flybybus.com/index.php.

A taxi from the city center area is roughly £17 pounds, not how much it will be from where you are coming.

There is also shuttle buses but I have never used those.  If you go to EDI's website you can find a link to different forms of transportation.

Good luck!

Cheeers!

The shuttle bus into the city centre is dead handy. When you leave the airport they're just outside the door. You can't miss them. I flew into that airport with no idea how I was going to get to the centre and it was totally obvious.

I was about to give you a tip for my favourite pub in Edinburgh, which is round the corner from Waverly, but it seems to have gone downhill since I was last there, so I think i'll leave it.

Have a fun time.
