Alphabet to launch four new comedies

ABC is looking to aggressively get back into the sitcom game.
Alphabet web is poised to announce a fall schedule that includes four new comedies back-to-back on Wednesday -- a big change from last year, when the network entered the fall with just one comedy.

Net also sees an opportunity on Thursdays at 8 p.m. for "Flash Forward," its new sci-fi tinged thriller that is already being promoted on-air. And its airing two new dramas at 10 p.m -- the Bruckheimer entry "The Forgotten" on Tuesdays, and the new adaptation of "Eastwick" on Wednesdays (which makes for a completely new lineup that night).

"Our focus is always on delivering the best stories with the most memorable characters on TV, whether that's established audience favorites or innovative new shows," said ABC Entertainment prexy Steve McPherson. "This year we've got the best of both. We're headed into the season with a strong slate of returning series as well as great new shows from one of our best development seasons ever."

The net will keep its Mondays and Sundays intact, plus keep its "Grey's Anatomy" -- "Private Practice" combo right where they are on Thursdays.

New reality skein "Shark Tank" will get an early launch from ABC, airing in the summer as the net airs its 10th anniversary run of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" in August. "Shark Tank" will then continue into the fall, setting up a two-hour reality block on Tuesday nights.

Alphabet's other moves include shifting "Ugly Betty" to Friday nights, behind "Supernanny." Also, laffers "Scrubs" and "Better Off Ted" move into the Tuesday 9 p.m. hour after "Dancing with the Stars" completes its run.

And on Monday nights, two-hour episodes of "The Bachelor" will air Mondays at 8 p.m. between editions of "Dancing with the Stars."

London, UK -> Long Beach, CA 2007

Ugly Betty on Friday, I like it on Thursday!  Is that show even aired in the UK?

I was really hoping they wouldn't renew Scrubs.  It ended so perfectly, it'll be weird to go back now.

How is anybody watching ABC in the UK? Mike Judge of King of the Hill fame has a new cartoon series coming out, and ABC's player denied me thrice.

Stupid IP resolving.

I don't think you can, but I still thought it helpful as most of these shows will be on in the UK shortly after they're on in the US.

It's already gone about 2 seasons past it's best.

True, they got off track with story/writing for a few seasons.  But I think they really made up for a lot of sins with this last season.  Another reason why I think continuing is a mistake.
