Help! American Football Playoff game while in London
« on: January 15, 2009, 02:27:24 PM »
My husband is a die-hard Eagles fan, and while he "watched" last weeks' game online, I want to see if he can't see this week's game for real.  We're going to be traveling to London this weekend, and I wanted to know if there was a sports bar or somewhere that might show the game (8pm UK time Sunday night).  Ideally near the Tower Hill tube, since we're doing a walking tour right before then than ends there.

Many TIA

As much as it would pain me to help an Eagles fan (go Cowboys!!), I believe the Texas Embassy usually shows American football.  You might give them a call and see if they're getting the game.  It's near Trafalgar Square.

There's a Bodeans right next to Tower hill Tube that my boyfriend go to about once a week (we live by tower bridge) to watch football and eat excellent ribs (the mixed starter is to die for)!

Come out of tower hill station, whilst facing the tower turn right and it's about 5 minutes walk next to All Bar One.

Here's the schedule :

On Sunday the downstairs dining room (restaurant) is closed but the upstairs deli is open so you can eat (and drink) at the counters and watch the game.
They do buckets of ice with bottles of beer stuck in them and don't mind if you just want like nibbly things and hang out. It's pretty nice, definitely the nicest of the Bodeans.

I'm on the north side by the royal mint! So pretty close as the crow flies :)
You have that amazing house boat don't you? I think I looked at your blog once then started badgering my boyfriend to buy me a house boat (I've always wanted to live on one)

I think I hate you because you seem lovely and you're living my dream! :)

Check out www.beerintheevening.com for a great search engine of UK pubs.
