Snow
« on: January 20, 2009, 04:05:14 AM »
I saw on Christine's 365 that she had snow on Monday during the daytime and I'm looking at the webcams at 4 a.m. UK time and I don't see any anywhere in the UK.
Christine lives in the Bolton area of Lancashire (or close enough). Anyhow, can anyone report on any snow finds.
I didn't know that the UK had mini climates. ???

hi Jim,
We had snow overnight in Orkney.  Looks lovely this morning -- just a little covering on the ground ...
And oh yes, yes we have mini climates even on our little island ... my neighbour a mile down the road gets different temperature readings than us sometimes as we're on a hillside and he's on flat land next to a loch ... and I can grow Welsh poppies in my garden but they won't grow in his!

hi Jim,
We had snow overnight in Orkney.
I was just looking at the webcams for "Visit Orkney" and I can see the snow. Thanks for the tip. I shows two cameras at the Airport.
They say all the flights are delayed all day long.
Oh to be in Orkney now that there is snow there. Get the camera out. :)

We had snow in South Manchester, but it didn't stick! My 3 year old was excited. My husband works at Winter Hill in Bolton and they had great difficulty getting down the hill after lunch.

We had a good foot over the weekend in Boston.  Spent most of Sunday shoveling.  Waited to see if Michelle Obama would turn up on MLK Day to dig me out but no.  Next door neighbour did get out his Sherman tank snow blower and cleared the sidewalk.  His Community Service for the day.
Feel cheated out of a holiday though, having spent most of the weekend snowbound.
