Happy Valentine's Day!!!
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:04:27 AM »
Yaye - it's Valentine's Day!  [smiley=smitten.gif]

I like Valentine's Day but not because of Hallmark cards, or expensive meals out, or anything like that!  I always think of that Simpsons episode where Lisa gives Ralph the "I choo-choo-choose you" Valentine (and then later "Let's bee friends") - reminds me so much of grade school - lol!

And I know you are not aware of this, but I was a playwright once when I was in second or third grade.  Around the time that the musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" was fairly new...taking that as my inspiration (my brother's high school performed it, which I'd gone to see), I wrote a Valentine's Day/Charlie Brown themed play that I directed & was performed by members of my grade school class.  The very complex plot involved that Charlie Brown didn't have any Valentines at all in his decorated (shoe)box for the school party, until Linus had a look and told him there was one Valentine sort of wedged in a bottom corner of the box & it was from the little red-headed girl, which of course set Charlie Brown's heart aflutter.  And I note that my play was written some 2-3 years before Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (not the same plot as mine, so no worries of Charles Schulz stealing my intellectual property or anything  ;)) aired in 1975.  ;D

DH and I went out for a curry last night & to see a play.  I gave him a CD this morning.  We'll be staying in tonight - he will cook something nice, we'll have champagne & a gorgeous chocolate pudding, and play the CDs we made for our wedding music.  I also call it our half-anniversary because our wedding anniversary is exactly 6 months from today on August 14th, so today is our 4 1/2 years anniversary!  ;)  [smiley=love.gif]

So glad to hear you're looking forward to a lovely weekend Mrs. R - especially with all that's been going on!

We too started our "celebration" last night.  We're total geeks, so we're making a weekend out of Valentine's Day by spending each night watching one of the Lord of the Rings (Special Edition) movies.   I made cinnamon french toast and bacon (my first successful English bacon - yea!) for breakfast, I'll make steak and homemade frites for dinner, and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert tonight.

Hope everyone has a happy Valentine's day!

Alas, while I do have copies of a couple of 'books' I wrote during the same general artistic period, I no longer have a copy of that particular script.  I'm afraid it has been lost to the sands of time...  :\\\'(  :)

Besides, without the zealous overacting of my classmate, little Jeff W, cast in the part of Charlie Brown, I'm sure it would not be anywhere near the same as the original production.  One of those creative collaborations that only happens once in a lifetime & all.  ;)

Happy Valentine's Day, C!!  (And everyone else!!)

It's been a low-key day for us - DH worked last night and slept all day today, while I worked all day today, so we've barely seen each other.  DH apparently bought me something "romantic" that hasn't arrived yet (he was a bit upset about that) but seeing as we just dropped nearly a thousand quid on ILR, I *really* wasn't expecting (or wanting) anything.  I just wish we could have spent the day together!!  I held a craft session this afternoon for the local kids to make valentines, so at least I have a card for him....I just need to actually write in it!
