Paying US Student Loans in the UK...

Be careful if you do this this simply because if you can't pay off the credit card, you could wind up having to pay interest to AmEx and wind up paying more for your student loan than the payment actually is!

Actually, looking at the site, the Dollar/Euro card appears to be a charge card, so you don't really have an option about whether or not to pay it off.  (On the other hand, you also pay no interest either because you paid in full.)

I have no idea how charge cards (other than credit) work...would there be any kind of fee involved?

I'm pretty certain they do have an annual fee, though I have no idea what it would be.  (Otherwise AmEx would never make any money.)  I've only stuck with no-fee cards.

I think this is an annual fee for the dollar/euro cards (not sure as I dont directly deal with them).  But there again, you have to weigh the value of the convenience of having it to use.  And yes, with charge facilities you have to pay in full at the end of the month, so be wary!
