TPA firms
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:11:20 PM »
Is there a difference between couriers like ABriggs and firms like Laura devine. I understand that the former goes with your application to the consulate in person (or atleast delivers by hand), as does the latter. Both offer 1 day approval/denial for a clean application. Whats exclusive about Laura devine that Abriggs cannot do? Anyone know.

Laura Devine are a UK based firm of immigration consultants.  They, like my firm, can advise on the merits of your application and actually provide legal advice and assistance.

ABriggs are only supposed to deliver the docs, not comment on whether or not you will succeed or what documents should be included to make sure you are successful.

It sounds to be as though Laura Devine provide a service which is a combined version of using my firm for the preparation of the case and then ABriggs to deliver.

For what its worth, i ended up using Laura Devine Attorneys in NY this week as a courier and got my tier 1 processed the very same day. By evening i had the passport. Their fees is 40% higher than peers, but probably deserved.

Thanks for recommending them Garry

I'm thinking Vicky should do some investigative work about expanding here later this year!

Vicky's fine, I make referrals to her all the time.

BUT she's not a courier.  Neither is a law firm.  In much the same way that FedEx is not H&R Block, it's very important to know the difference.

You can trust FedEx to deliver your tax return, but would you trust them to PREPARE IT?  Same difference.

Thats fair, but if one does not use a law firm as an adviser, or for document check, but only as an expediter/courier, there is no difference between the service provided by the two i would imagine.

My point was Laura Devine are registered as a courier at the New York consulate and are therefore able to walk applications in much the same as any other courier. Obviously I don't know whether riskpremia paid LD a fee that included a document check or not. I am sure LD offer the courier service as an add on to their other services.

Thanks LadyAnglesey. Post the application, its almost like withdrawl symptoms for me. The paranoia about the exact documentation was taking a toll on my sanity earlier. Glad its over with, for now

I know what you mean. Once we got the visas, I felt like I'd been made redundant from a full-time career and didn't really know how to structure my days for a week or so.  :P
