Looking for schooling advice
« on: May 20, 2002, 05:05:37 PM »
Am looking to move to Kent (Gravesend/Rochester area) in early September.  Does anyone know if the dates for school start/end and holidays are pretty much the same everywhere?  I'm looking for what's the last day of school this year (so I can get with headmasters before it lets out) and the first day next year (so I know how to schedule the move).

Any help would be very much appreciated!  Ta!

My husband is a primary school teacher and I know that school lets out in Scotland in June, but don't think it ends in England until July, so you should have plenty of time.

Generally speaking that's true. However I know my son (who is starting secondary school next year) will be starting and ending his school year earlier than my daughter who is in primary.

Yes, I too have found that the local County Council websites are very helpful for finding out pretty much anything you want to know about the School systems in your local area.  Including Term Dates, Child Minders, How to pick a Child Minder, etc.

Another website I found useful is www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk [nofollow]   ;)
