schnitzel, kolsch, struedel, mmm

okay, so i tagged along with the hubby to germany last week and OMG! I had some of the best food ever!  I was a bit worried as i'm not a big meat fan, so i was not expecting all the yummy foods in store.  and the beer was so delicious!  

anyway, i'm just excited b/c it was so great to get away from here for a long weekend and I'm feeling ready to take on living here once again.

What part of Germany did you visit?  No one does beer like the Germans that is true!  Sounds like you made the right decision  to venture out and explore   which is one of the most fantastic aspects of living here - all the varied and diverse cultures that are accessible.

I completely agree with you.  A few years ago I did a whirlwind tour of Europe (10 countries in 21 days) and far and away the best food I had on the entire trip was in Germany!  I had wondered if it was because where I grew up we tended to eat a lot of German based foods, so I am glad that someone else shares my sentaments.  It wasn't the most exciting, but I'd definately go back just for the food and the beer.

if she was drinking 'kolsch', she was in Koeln / Köln / Cologne... kölsch is the local brew.

2002!  That must be a record.  But mmmm, beer and sausages.

Wurstkaesesalat (a sausage salad) was one of my favourite discoveries when we visited Heidelberg.  It doesn't sound that appetising, but it was fab.

Stein's is a fabulous German restaurant in Richmond.  It is open-air and right on the Thames, about 400 yards west of Richmond bridge.
