The best way to avoid gastro is not to eat raw veg/salad (other than stuff you peel) and go veggie while there.

Thank you all for the tips and suggestions. All is noted :)

We got my shots, medicine, upset tummy pills, flight booked and we went to the visa office this past monday, so all seems a go!!!

I'm really excited and happy to go with my hubby :)

Thank you all for your help xoxo

Wow, that's great!  Keep an open mind and you will enjoy.  My husband just returned last week from India and said it was incredibly HOT so be prepared for that with appropriate clothing, a head covering/hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.  Let us know how it all goes when you get back.  And eat some mangoes - they are just coming into season now and Indian mangoes are the absolute best!

Have a great time.

Small suggestion - if you are going out in the heat sleevless, bring a wrap to put around your shoulders in case of impromptu temple visits.

Thank you all again for your support and comments. I'm a bit worried now as my visa has not come through and my flight is saturday :(
I'm wondering what the chances are that I may be able to get it, and what I can do to have it in the post to arrive for tomorrow as there's no post on Friday and Monday.  I feel like it may not arrive until wednesday or thursday in which case paying for extra holiday, the change of ticket and difference in flight may end up costing too much leaving me at home whilst he has to go. please any help would be appreciated thank you

Hey Steph...I had a dig about this morning on the Indian visa application site to see if I could find anything out for you and the only thing that I did come across was this (and it is not very reassuring) http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/ImportantNotice.htm:
Quote
IMPORTANT NOTICE
call center number has been changed to 09057570045.
All Visa application Centers in the UK will be shut on
Tuesday, 7th April- Mahavir Jayanthi
Friday, 10th April– Good Friday
Monday, 13th April– Easter Monday

So they're shut today due to an Indian state holiday as well as this Friday & coming Monday.

I don't think there is anything you can to but to wait. Not reassuring I know, but, fingers crossed it will make it into the post tomorrow or even yesterday and it will arrive in time for your holiday as I know how much it means to you to be able to go.

Same with me. I guess I'd try ringing the consulate?

DH and I tried ringing, it was a holiday for them... but luckily

WE GOT OUR VISAS!!!!

DH recieved an email last night in reply to several emails to different places inquring and explaining the urgency of him needing his work visa etc etc. They emailed and said come in today and pick your passports up between x and x time!! I can't believe it. I was certain that his would be finished and mine not, and that the s on the end of passports was just an error. But no, he went in (made sure he had my drivers' license, marriage certificate and signed letter for me to let him retrieve mine) showed the email and they gave it to him with out even seeing proof of ID (strange but oh well), he checked both visas were correct then went on his merry way!!!

I'm so happy and excited. I'm glad it worked out because it would've been a lot of money wasted (I know you're supposed to book after, lesson learned !) and am surprised because I thought I wouldn't recieve mine until this coming Thursday with the holiday and all!

Thank you all for your help :)

xoxo
