I actually am going to look into a British food market or go eat at a good pub we have in SF. The HP sauce freaks me out though. I went and bought a Costco sized A1 yesterday so I could ship it over. I looked at the prices on some of the websites that wil ship you American foods and thought "Oh Hell no" haha.
LOL! I don't think of HP as steak sauce, I never use it on steak. I really love it actually. You should try it on a bacon and egg sandwich or on some fish and chips. It rocks! I guess it's mostly like malt vinegar, which I hate, but for some reason I just love HP. Hmph...
Yeah, it is expensive to order from the sites, but well worth it, I suppose, for the occasional bout of homesickness. Unfortunately, they don't usually have the things I am homesick for (which is very little, and becoming less all the time) and my mom sends me care packages once in a while (mainly she just stuffs a few things in for me with the gifts she sends us for birthdays and holidays, etc.)
Just don't do what I did - I packed probably 25 pounds worth of American foods in my suitcase when I moved and found out many of them were already available here, anyway, and some of the others I haven't even used. For example, I brought Betty Crocker brownie and choc chip cookie mix, Bisquick, and Nature Valley Granola Bars, which were all available here. I also brought loads of ranch dressing packs and Jello instant pudding, which are still sitting in the cupboard 9 months later. And of course, there are many other things I wish I had brought (Butterfinger bars, strawberry Pop-tarts, and flavoured oatmeal), but I guess that's the way it goes! Also, as someone else said, sometimes the things you bring, you feel you have to save them for a special occasion or something, like they're too precious to be eaten, and then later realize they have gone bad just sitting there!
