Weird!
« on: July 24, 2010, 07:51:14 PM »
So, there is this family in Dublin that I see ALL.THE.TIME and it's totally freaking me out! The first time I saw them was months ago in the produce section of Tesco. The daughter (around 2 yo) was in the pram and started screaming bloody murder. Then the parents started screaming at the brother. Apparently the brother (around 4 yo) bit her really hard. How do I know this? Because they ended up behind me in line, you could see where he bit her arm, and the parents were understandably making a fuss about it. Also, the mother was about 8 months pregnant and was wearing, what was essentially a net dress. The little girl doesn't have a hand, and the little boy had on a football shirt, gold chain necklace and bracelet. Yeah, they're Dubliners through and through. Ever since then I see them every where - on the street, in McDonald's, in the more local grocery store to me, you name it. I even know that they've had another little boy since the original sighting. I figured that they must live in a council flat or house around our neighborhood since there are loads around us and they're often walking in that general direction. No big deal.

But, today was the weirdest. DH and I wandered in a shopping centre no where near our flat. It was totally random, neither of us have ever been in there, so we decided to investigate further. Who do I see eating lunch in a cafe!? This same family! It's starting to freak me out!

Does anyone else have things like this happen to them??

Not  as interesting as yours - but everytime my DH & I go to a concert these days, we look back at the sound desk and Jimmy Page is sitting there.... Is he stalking us???

I know! I try to smile at them when I do see them. That probably makes me look crazy and stalker-like!

I totally think this is a Dublin thing.  I cannot tell you how many people I ran over and over and over again the summer I lived in Dublin.  Actually, I even ran into people I worked with in Dublin when I was in Galway for a weekend!  One day I heard Bruce Springsteen was in town and kept thinking about how amazing it would be to run into him...and I walked around and passed this one side street and pondered whether I should go down it because it looked like a swanky sort of street where a celebrity might be...I didn't turn down but instead stayed straight and literally five minutes later ran into a roommate who had just spotted Bruce Springsteen on that very street!

I know someone who once literally bumped into Bruce Springsteen in the street - almost knocked him over.

Maybe he just doesn't like walking in places where people seem to be looking for celebrities.

I'm from Virginia and we have family in Orlando (12 hour drive).  One year we were in Disney World and I saw 3 people I went to school with.  A few hours later, I saw 5 or 6 different people that I went to school with.  Eventually, I saw someone that I actually knew personally (the other people were just familiar faces but not friends) and asked them what in the world was going on.  The choir group from my school was at Disney World for a competition.

I also used to live in Italy.  I was flying to Philly for a connecting flight back to Virginia.  When I got on the airplane in Venice, I saw a random guy with a sweatshirt on from a small, private college about 20 minutes from my hometown.

Weird stuff...

Well, in that case, it turned out to be the street where pretty much all of the really big celebrities stay when in Dublin, but my dad did play pool with him a few times in a bar in my hometown that he randomly stopped in when passing through town...and that was definitely not a place where anyone would suspect he would show up.

Oh my goodness, this happened to me.

Last Sunday I saw this Spanish/Portugese (?) family in the pub.   Then ran into them at the big Tesco last Thursdsay.  Then last night, one of their sons was out playing football near the pool.  None of these places are near each other!!

Strange!!!!  A glitch in the matrix I think.

I was crossing the road in front of Buckingham Palace and we saw these friends from San Francisco where we lived at the time. We said Hi! as though we were back in SF. None of this "fancy seeing you here?'
