I was thinking that the question was "Can she travel after the date when her visa becomes valid" to which the answer is yes.  Of course she can't travel before the start date on the visa. 

I read the question as can she
...fly anytime after the visa has been granted from she doesn't have to fly on the day that the visa is granted from?
and my point was that the visa granted date and the visa valid date can be two seperate dates. My apologies, I'm a nitpicker I know.

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

I think so!  I'm generally burned out on immigration stuff now so it's good that someone else is enthusiastic about the details :)

Thanks! I take that as a compliment. Though the burn out thing I'm starting to feel...some days I just can't be bothered.
