I was in a similar situation. I owed 11g on my 04 VW Jetta but it was valued at KBB for about 8g. I called my bank and they did a hardship settlement on my behalf, allowing me to sell it for what its worth today and not what it was worth when I purchased it. I had to continue dropping the price even after that and just paid the difference. I sold my car in 3 weeks, and actually finalized it the day I left my town.

Good luck w/ selling your car. I wiould recommend calling your bank and seeing if they can work with you.

Any luck, hollyberry?  I just listed my car on the Seattle Times online classifieds after too many unsuccessful Craigslist attempts.  I'm now asking for $1,200 less than originally listed price and getting REALLY DESPERATE to sell this car!!!

I was in a similar situation. Came over, left car, never came back. I wanted $2500 for it but then it sat there so long through a NY winter that when someone came to look at it, they went to check the oil, pulled the dipstick and it broke off due to rust. Needless to say, they didnt buy it.

My parents finally ended up selling it for $600 which i was quite angry about but then it was sitting in their driveway, rusting away, not mine.... so it was fair i guess.

It finally sold a few weeks back - for $1500 less than what I owed.

Hopefully my tax refund will take care of the bulk of it.  I'm just happy that it's all over with and thank jebus for my parents willingness to help.

Thanks for asking   :)
