Can I get horseradish in the UK?

I would prefer fresh but will deal with dried if that is all I can find.  Does anyone know of a place where this is sold?  I have tried all the supermarkets, fruit/veg stands, organic shops, etc. in my area.

Horseradish or wasabe? Cause if it's the former, I'd love to know too!

I hadn't thought of asking this before! Would be nice to be able to have some American-style cocktail sauce this year... I haven't seen any around, but I don't have many options for shopping out here.

Jewlz, can you not get a jar of English horseradish to mix with the ketchup? I'm not a huge fan of cocktail sauce, but I know the English like horseradish with roast beef...

My local Asda has a kosher section and they have horseradish sauce (like the kind you would eat with Gefilte fish) its red (they dye it with beetroot) The only kind of sauce you will find in the UK is a mayonaisey type horseradish sauce. Matthew Fort has been writing about getting Wasabi Root in the UK...check out the Guardian magazine from the last two weeks.

It grows wild in some places in the UK ...and it is easy to grow if you fancy that

Farm shops normally have some

I will look for an Asian market and keep my eyes peeled at farm shops.  I don't have any room to grow my own -- and I kill every plant I touch.  I may try to email that supplier though not sure if they will send me a tiny amount.  My quest will continue!!

I want it primarily for bloody marys and secondarily for various cooking, so a sauce won't do for me.
