London short term let?

Hi everyone,

Someone from another message baord I frequent is in London for the summer, August 16, with her two kids, 9 and 12, and husband.  They had arranged for a house let through an agent and the agent has flaked leaving them high and somewhat dry.

Any advice?  They are looking through Gumtree now, but I am sure someone on here knew someone who let out apartments.   They have a local bank account and letters of reference.
