Have a good one, everybody!  Be safe with your fireworks & keep all your fingers.  ;)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Happy 4th!  I've been out of the US for 3 or 4 consecutive July 4ths (The first one or two were vacations in Ireland) and this is going to be my first time actually celebrating.  It turns out one of our open mic friends whose wife is Australian with family in the US is having a party with American food, etc.  I am baking either Nestle's Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies or my grandmother's (Atlantic City Bubby!) choc. chip cookies.

Aw, WebyJ, I know what you mean. I spent all but one 4th of July in England for the past 6 years. I always miss America on this day and Thanksgiving. I hope your hubby cheers you up and that you celebrate somehow! :)

But everyone enjoy the holiday! The reason that we all have to go through this visa hell, but subsequently met one another. :) Visas have caused me to make so many friends that I otherwise would not have, so I think it's still a happy holiday.
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

Me too...this is my fourth year in the UK for the 4th, but it is the first year that I am not at work. You would think that would be a good thing--- but I usually do something special with the kids at work for the fourth and that focuses my mind, today I am just feeling a bit sad. I will get over it though :)---- and hope everyone is having fun!

HG -- Last year I had a newborn baby to keep me busy. This year I have an independant one year old and FarmTown on FB to try to keep my mind away from old memories of Fun 4ths past...it doesn't help DH is at work until late tonight...But like you said...we'll survive.

I think I'm going down to the shops and get some usual 4th food fare and try to make a traditional 4th dinner for DD & myself. Maybe I'll feel better then.

Hoping everybody had a great day!  Seemed to be more expat 4th parties going on up here in Yorkshire than we could shake a stick at!  ;)

But we did shake our sticks (sparklers) after it got dark, and shot off a display-grade cone fountain so that was pretty cool & fun!  I would have liked to have had some major stuff that went seriously BOOM! but was being mindful of neighbours & people with pets.

And I'm not too hungover to enjoy my Sunday either!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I hadn't intended to celebrate, but my lovely boyfriend took me on a boat over to Greenock, where we drank Independence Ale (made in Oregon).   So it that was celebrating, then i did!  ;)
