Hiya from Derby, folks
« on: July 05, 2004, 11:10:53 AM »
Hey all,

Just wanted to pop in and say wassup (well, not really "wassup", that's pretty old now)

Anyway, I've been in Derby since January and have just found out about this forum. I've been posting on another expats forum for a while.

I'm all settled in and stuff but I'm glad to find another web community for us yanks.

Hey DUC, nice to see you again :)

onetiger - the short story is "work" :) The company I worked for in California is owned by the same guy who owns the European branch, which is based in the UK, plus he owns the UK distribution company. When my time was coming to an end in CA I contacted the GM of the distributor since I knew him already and a couple weeks later had a job and started making plans. :)

So I'm fairly settled in and trying to get out backpacking more, seeing the sites, been to London a couple of times, planning a road trip to Edinburgh, racing my model cars (the company distributes them) and other stuff.

Hiya... have we met? ;)
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
