Wedding Abroad for the both of us?

Hello everyone,

I've been looking for the answer to this question all over and can not find the answer.

Some background info,

I'm British and my fiancee is American on a student visa. Our dream wedding destination is in Barbados. Do we still need to apply for the Certificate of Approval? Or can we just get there and get married without notifying anyone?

The Home Office's jurisdiction doesn't extend past the borders of the UK.  You don't need a Certificate of Approval to marry abroad.  You do need to make sure that the UK will recognise your marriage and it helps if the certificate is in English (should be, in the Barbados, I'm guessing). 

Mr. K and I were married in Jamaica.  (I am the Yank and he is the Brit!)  When it came time for my spouse visa, I did not have any problems with the proof of marriage/marriage certificate.  I would think the same would apply to Barbados.
