Month-to-Month Rentals?
« on: August 08, 2009, 07:46:59 PM »
How common are these? We're looking for a place to be when we first arrive, before we know where our job search might take us. Has anyone had any experience with paying month by month, rather than signing a long-term lease?

Not to say they don't exist, but I've never come across a month to month rental from the start here...only 6 month (or longer) tenancies that can go month to month when the lease expires.

I think it just depends on whoever the land lord is. We were looking for a new place but it looked like we were going to have to wait another month so we just asked our current land lord if we could do it month by month while we look for a new place. If you just explain your situation some might be ok with it.

You might try calling around to some local letting agencies in the area you'd like to live. They'll let you know whether month to month rentals are available, or point you in the right direction of where to find one.

Good luck! Aren't you moving to the Brighton area?
