Per person or...?

I've just been browsing over letting agent websites (mostly foxtons) and I've noticed on some sites you'll see that the price is per person per month rather than just per month. Is this the norm? Should I assume that most people mean the price is per person or do they usually specify if it's per person? As usual, I am pretty confused.

Also, does anyone know of good websites to find private landlords? I've been adequately scared away from estate agents but I do love that foxtons has detailed pictures of many of their flats. At this point I'm just looking to get a good idea of what we can afford and it's nice to see pictures.

That probably means it's a shared flat/house and each person pays individually.

I've seen ones like that but I've also seen flats that are not shared and still say that the price is per person. I'm just wondering if that's the norm or if, for example. something advertised like this would normally be extra if a couple is moving in rather than a single person. My first thought is no but I'm so confused at this point that not much would surprise me.

Can you post a link to a few of the 'per person' adverts?
Never heard of it before and would like to see what the adverts actually say/look like...
