Good Buritto in Oxford
« on: August 09, 2009, 05:32:17 PM »
Just got back and had a very good burrito at a place called The Mission Mexican Grill. It's more of a counter, not a table service place, but to me that is more in the spirit of a decent burrito. Good fresh quac and both black or red beans.

On the subject, Nanna Mexico here in Cambridge is also muy good. Very similar concept.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on the Manna/Nanna Mexico name?

Because it was Manna and some staff still have the Manna t-shirts, but now the name is clearly Nanna on the sign. Odd.

I get the feeling they found out "Manna Mexico" was already taken somewhere and just stuck an "N" in there. A couple of the staff (including the smiling hombre from the webpage - who is a real nice guy) have been there since day 1, so I don't think there has been a takeover of any kind.

Just my 2 p. But I think N(M)anna Mexico in Cambridge is awful.  To each their own, but it is not my favorite.

No offense.

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for.  I do wish they had more beans though.

You know it seems people either like it or hate it. It is not an American burrito by any means (my favorite US chainstore burrito being Baja Fresh by-the-way). But they don't curry it up...

But the way I feel is that it is only about 4 quid so it's not like going to one of these sit down places where you end up £25 out of pocket...but then again my usual lunch is a Ginster's spicy chicken.....

That is how I feel.  Well flavoured meat, lots of cilantro and good guac.

I wish they would have real cheese melted on the nachos as opposed to cheese goo, but the rest of the cheese they use it real, so I will live with out the cheese sauce.
