There's no set rule as to how instructors charge. Mine was no cheaper to buy a block of lessons, so I paid each time.

Already found my instructor - two different colleagues recommended her, said she was very patient and nice, plus, I'll get to drive a Mini!  :) Will contact her as soon as I get provisional licence back. Eeeee!

I took three lessons - 1 1/2 hours each.  I had been driving here for a couple months before I took any lessons, so was already quite comfortable driving - just needed to know the standards to pass the test.
