I gave my self a few minutes to chill out and dry the tears before writing this so I would not use the F word repeatedly! I'm livid right now!

So just a little backround on this. My husband and I went on holiday back in September and while we were away this guy Paul my husband works with told the boss that before my husband left he volunteered to do a 2 week detachment in Scotland in November! Nice isn't it! My husband is military if that helps too.

My husband absolutely did not do this. First of all my Birthday and Thanksgiving fall during this 2 weeks so no flippin way! On my DH first day back to work he found out about this and told the boss no way and confronted this man about lying. The guy of course was all like "oh I'm sorry I guess I misunderstood!" um, no! My husband never even mentioned it so how could you misunderstand? The reason this Paul offered up my husband is because he didn't want to do it him self! Paul would have been next in line to go unless some one volunteered. Needless to say my husband was taken off this detachment that day and DickHe@d was put back on it like he should have been in the first place!

Now ever since then this guy Paul has been at work bitchin about having to go to Scotland and how mad his wife is going to be and blah, blah, blah! My husband even did this guys guard duty for him as a favor. Anyone in the military or who know some one in will tell you that was a big deal! Now, now I get to the best part. This detachment is on Saturday and I just get a phone call from my husband saying I got some news and your not gonna like it! This Guy Paul is all of a sudden sick and can't go to Scotland and so guess who gets dicked for it again! MY HUSBAND!!!!!! I get 2 days notice that he has to go. We had plans on Saturday that are gone now! This was going to be my first Bday that I got to spend with my DH and now I'm going to be alone for it and for Thanksgiving! This is a big deal for me since it's my first year living in England and all. My husband thinks this man had this planed out from day one! I asked if there was anything he can do about it and there isn't! I'm friends with this guys wife and I almost posted on facebook saying how much of a jerk this dude is but decided to take 5 instead and come on here to vent. Anyway Just had to get that out! Thanks for listening to me rage!

Awwww, I'm really sorry. That completely sucks. I wouldn't start ranting to the guy's wife or on FB or anything, though. There is a (probably slim) chance that this guy really is sick. It could have been on purpose, but you won't be able to know for sure either way. So I suppose you have to give the benefit of the doubt, whether you like it or not.

I'm so sorry about your birthday and Thanksgiving, that really, really sucks, and I would've been totally upset, too, had this happened to us on my first year here. You should plan something really special for the two of you when he gets back, a belated Thanksgiving/birthday dinner. Most people here have to cook Thanksgiving dinner on a weekend, anyway, since they have to work on the Thursday. I know that might not help you feel any better now, but just try your best to look forward to that time and keep your chin up. It sucks and I know you are sooo disappointed, but at least you are here now and you have your husband, and you will see him when he gets back. (((HUGS))).

Yep, sounds like this guy's a complete asswipe.

Any chance you could join your DH and stay in a hotel or something? Not sure if he is on manoeuvres or at a post.

But that does suck. Yea and holding back on FB might be a better move.
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

I wont be posting anything on FB about this other then. Status: I'm sad I wont get to spend my birthday with my love! He got called out on a last minute DET! = (

As much as I want to give this guy the benefit of the doubt I can't! My husband has covered for this guy several times and this is just his way of weaseling out of this. It's not fair! This guy was put on light duty because of a bad hip so now milk's it at any chance he can. My husband is going to Afghanistan in March for 4 months so I think at the very least this guy could do would be to go to Scotland for 2 weeks or do his own flippin guard duty.  >:( He always leaves work early, calls in sick, and he seems to always be sick when he has DET or guard. Always!

Ugh, I'm still fuming from this. I'll figure out what to do with my self for 2 weeks. Although that's really not the point.

Is there absolutely nothing your husband can do? Can they not demand a doctor's note or something??? I would be furious as well. Perhaps your husband should develop a bit of a *cough cough* sickness.

Well that really truly sucks, especially looking forward to these things you had planned.  (((((Sorry)))))

I suppose there isn't much you can do except try and plan something special for when he gets back.  I can only imagine its hard enough being a military spouse, but this kind of stuff sucks.

Hi Jupy

I'm sorry to hear about this..  My hubs is in the military too and I can't tell you how many times this sort of thing has happened to us.  Plans having to be cancelled or changed pushed to the way side.  It is annoying and it is depressing.  Even more so now that it is your first year here.

Do you know where he will be in Scotland? Will he be getting leave?  It's not the same but perhaps you can meet him up there for a few days.

I know it all completely sucks but perhaps you can come up with a plan to do something fun and exciting on your own.

Feel free to PM any time you'd like to have a chat.

Maureen

Has nobody noticed the pattern of this guy's illnesses?  I've never been in the military, but have seen coworkers either disciplined or terminated due to patterns of absences.

Thanks you all for the support!  :) I've actually mellowed out now believe it or not. not much else we can do so I'm moving on.

I have called a friend and we are going to have some girly nights while my DH is away. I also have another friend (neighbor) and her husband is gone for a few weeks to so we can keep each other company. One good thing I can say about the military is that our families are always trying to look after each other. When My husband gets back we have a nice long weekend out of town planned and will celebrate then. In the meantime I have a few projects I can work on and a lot of people around me if I need anything!
