I'd love to meet up in Cambridge! I'll be living in a very small village initially, my 'big towns' nearby will be Bury St. Edmunds, Newmarket, and Cambridge, but I looove Cambridge. :) I'm sure I'll need to escape and meet up! Assuming of course I don't screw all the paperwork up!
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Well we've gone from "thinking about it" to holy crap we're moving in 3 months time.  :o

Holy cow!! You don't do anything by halves, do you?  ;D

Congratulations. This will probably be better for you anyway - having too much time to think about everything would leave you second-guessing and torn. This way, you're moving so quickly your head is spinning and there's no time to dither!  ;)

Meanwhile our trip back worked like a charm and now we've definitely decided to make the move back. Hubby is eligible for US citizenship in March so we'll have to wait for that. Gives us time to sell up and get money together to buy in the UK so that's good.

Sounds like there will be several of us making the move back within the next year or so. Woo-hoo for us ping-pongers! [smiley=balloon.gif]

Hey Marlespo - Congrats on your upcoming move!  It looks like our plans are solidifying as well.  Since I last posted we've sold the house (Close on Thursday December 3rd!)  Yahoo!  I can't believe how fast it sold in this market.

Anyway - we officially moved house this weekend- we signed a six month lease - so that means we'll be looking at arriving in May.

Husband has found out that his company will likely let him transfer to their UK office - so we'll be somewhere near Bracknell if that works out.  We're looking at towns like Twyford/Sonning and Wargrave as options. Son is 4 still so we don't have to worry about school until January of 2011.

Also, he's got his final interview for citizenship this month.  :)  I'm starting to quiz him every night.  Next stop my son's passport, then husband's american passport, then trip to the UK for KOL test, then my Visa.  I feel like I won't be able to stop filling in paperwork until we've been in the UK for 6 months.  While we were moving I was carrying all of the important docs around in my huge purse and felt like I had to keep it attached to my body.  Hope you're able to get a lot of the work done over the holidays.

Keep me updated on your move!

Speaking of updating - I just booked my tickets for taking the KOL test.  I'm going next month (January!)  Ack!  I'd been messing around with the idea and got a great deal on tickets at that time.  I'll only get the one chance to take it though because I'm there for a week only. Studying over the holidays! Yipee!

I've mentioned here and there on the board so far, but as for my updates... I'll be about 5 months pregnant when we move. :) the pregnancy is the main reason we sped things up so fast, and I'm a ginormous high risk pregnancy and will likely need a load of hospitalization, we need to be near family full time. All the doors opened at the right time though, with my son being able to register for the school and the HQ having a job for my husband. :D I'm excited!

You'll do fine! And it'll be one more thing ticked off the list. Then you can relax and enjoy your packing.  [smiley=laugh4.gif]

Phew - Well, the house is sold officially and the mortgage has disappeared from our accounts.  That's a nice one to tick off for sure!  That will also take care of the last of our revolving debt accounts.  :)  Yeah!

Next we're concentrating on getting my hubbies citizenship taken care of.  He's got his interview on the 18th.  I love testing him!

Can I ask how long it took from application until this point for your husband? Hubby is eligible to apply for citizenship in March but I know we can do it 90 days prior. So I'm just trying to get an idea how long it's taking for apps through the Lewiston office.

Don't you wish the Life in the UK test were as simple as the US Citizenship one?  ;)

Congratulations on your house!!!! That must be a weight off of your shoulders.  ;D

He applied September 18th - Got his biometrics done October 18th - Has his interview December 18th - so exactly the 4 month timeline that they are aiming for right now. :) It seems to be the average timeline based on what I've seen at Britishexpats.com forum.

YES!  I wish all I had to do was memorize 100 questions.  ALthough I do enjoy the reading for the KOL test a little more.

If you have any questions about the n-400 process let me know!  Although, my hubbie applied based on the 5 year rule instead of marriage - so I'm not a good source on proving up the marriage version.

It only seems like yesterday that we were repatriating around the same time!

Where does time go?

Good luck!
