K-1 Fiance Visa Question
« on: October 23, 2009, 06:59:18 PM »
Are there expediters to speed up the process on a K-1 Visa to the use for my British Fiance?  I know we have them for the UK visas, just wondering if it works both ways??

Not as far as I am aware :(.

A US settlement visa application takes a minimum of 6 months to be processed and in some cases if the application is non-straightforward (i.e. involving criminal records, previous US immigration problems or issues with the 'good character' requirement), it can take up to 2 years! Basically, there's a reason why many people choose to apply for UK visas instead of American visas, even if they didn't really want to live in the UK in the first place :P (big, big processing time difference - 24-48 hours with expediter for UK visa vs. 6 months plus for US visa).

No problem :).

I haven't personally applied for a US settlement visa but I just went to the US Embassy last week for my third US non-settlement visa interview (2 student visas in the past and now a visitor visa) and each time it has taken 2-4 months from booking the interview appointment to actually receiving the visa.. and that's the fastest I've been able to get them  ::). Usually there's a waiting time of a couple of months for the interview appointment and then it can take anywhere from 5 business days to several weeks/months for the visa to be issued if it needs extra processing - and that's just for a temporary/visitor visa! The process is much more complicated and long-winded for a marriage visa :(.
