Looking for a good area in London to start a family
« on: October 14, 2009, 02:53:01 AM »
Well you see, I've just arrived and sure, a tiny little 'frat-pad' works when it's one man living here, but for two of us and one on the way, I have a feeling one room is just a tad bit small. So, we want to stay in London (our jobs are here) but I'm researching areas we'd like to look in to and wondering where a good family area in London would be. We aren't billionares but we aren't dirt poor either (we're both doctors if that helps) so in a reasonable price range would be nice! Thanks so much!!

Where will you be working? It will be easier to suggest somewhere if we know.

Hampstead, St John's Wood, Richmond, Wimbledon, ie somewhere a bit green and leafy with good schools.  We were living in Islington when our son was born and it was just awful being in London with a baby.

I had my son in Wimbledon and really loved living there, it is very family friendly and the Village and Commons are great!

I lived in Stoke Newington for three years. I have no kids, but nearly every woman I saw did.   Lots of organic this and that and baby clothes shops. Convenient to the east end and the City. In the north of London and not too expensive and very well liked by residents.

I brought up 2 kids in Herne Hill. Big park nearby, excellent schools (Dulwich is next door!)

Hi there,

I work for a property finding and relocation company called Khalil & Kane. We have found that families are increasingly concerned with private outside space and are moving away from the centre of London. Some of the most popular areas have included Highgate, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Totteridge, Wimbledon, Richmond, Esher and Cobham. Much depends on where you are going to be working and how far you are prepared to travel.

If you need any further advice, I am happy to have a chat any time. Edw@k-k.com.
