Some great menus on here.

However, to me personally, this sounds like a perfect Christmas menu to me!:

It's just the 2 of us, and this year I'm doing a curry feast:

Desi Ghosht
Pilau rice
Muttar paneer
Mumbai aloo
Onion parathas
Indian sweets
Kulfi

YUM!  I am drooling!!

Keep your menus flowing please, I love food and to hear what everyone is doing! ;D

Thanks!  :-*
It's partly because we REALLY like curry, and I have got some mean recipes, but also, we have a good friend that we love to wind up.  He runs a curry website and fancies himself a sort of curry guru.
On Christmas Day, our friend will be stuck in Aberdeen at his MIL's... suffering really dry, bland food, crappy beer and boring company.  We are looking forward to torturing him with some photos of our lovely Christmas Dinner!  >:D

What time should we all show up, Albatross? That sounds like a meal worth buying a plane ticket for!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

We're still undecided. It will be the two of us, with my family 2 hours away, his 4000 miles away, him working Christmas Eve and both of us working Christmas Day. I requested Christmas Eve off so I could fix something for us, and we have our meal and gift opening after he gets off work, and I can spend the day with Ralphie Parker and Clark Griswold.. and probably George Bailey, comfy on the couch with my fuzzy pjs, the dvd player and cookies and cocoa.

We can't decide if we want to do ham and all the trimmings, or just keep it simple with maybe nibbles. I'm sure I will end up baking a ham either way, and if we have nibbles we can have ham as part of it. I will keep watching this thread for thoughts and ideas.  Currently, ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and some steamed veg sound like a good start.

 ;) ;)

Just added a starter of poppadams & spiced onions to the menu, by special request.

For tonight's meal we've decided on doing a venison casserole and homegrown veg sides with bashed neeps/tatties, red cabbage, and braised leeks.

We're bringing to J's parents - for Christmas Day/Boxing Day
A cheese platter, a homemade smoked trout pate, and making a Black Forrest Trifle, plus some fizzy wine and regular wine.

We debated just having scrambled eggs tonight but in the end got some squash-filled ravioli things.  DH has just proudly made some "mince" pies but put so much grated ginger in it I couldn't finish mine  :P

Tomorrow we're doing a pot roast but will probably roast the potatoes.  He's always insisted on turkey but sees it's a bit much for two people.  I made a last-minute Christmas cake but it's come out very flat because it was the wrong size tin.

"Real" Christmas will probably be in January or February when DS can get away.

We're both working tomorrow, so our feast is tonight. We are having:
Ham
Green bean casserole
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Corn
Hubby's brussels sprouts

Not fancy, but tried and true faves. Then I went a bit Clark Griswold with the desserts:

Pumpkin pie
Cherry cheesecake
Pumpkin cheesecake
Brownies..

And of course, for Santa:

Snickerdoodles
Chocolate chunk cookies
Sugar cookies
and Gingerbread cookies.

Hubs and I might be eating leftovers for a week, which is okay because it saves on cooking after work. We may be waddling and unable to move by the first of the year because of calories, which is also okay, because the diet starts at the first of the year.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

* Edited to add hubby's brussels sprouts, which I nearly forgot to buy. I made a mad dash to the shop, and it was nearly as crazy in there as it was two days before Thanksgiving.
